Merry Christmas! Or rather, Merry Christmas Break, for that is what leads Miss Dashwood and me to make this proposal. In a recent post, one of our members who calls herself BatZion left a delightful comment in which she made herself a mental note to take advantage of time off and watch the whole of P&P. Miss Dashwood said that was a good idea, and then I thought, well, why not all do it together? Eh, P&P fans? Do not you think we should all have a merry party where we watch the wonderful P&P95 and then discuss it?
A Frosty Longbourn. Quite festive, don't you think? |
And then here is another thing we were pondering-- a live discussion in comments about the movie. What say? We were thinking, perhaps, sometime between 8-9 pm EST those of us who are able to could drop in and join in the chat. I've never seen an actual chat in blog comments done before, but I think it would work. We will set comments to publish automatically during that hour only, so that conversation can flow smoothly. Would any of you be interested in that? Do let us know.
This will be an excellent opportunity for us all to refresh our knowledge of the movie, and also a lovely way to relax during Christmas break. We hope you'll join us!
As for myself, I have just got the Remastered Edition from the library, and am curious to know what it is like. My papa was rather curious as to why I would be so excited about getting a movie I'd already seen so many times, so I endeavored to explain it to him... and then declared that, as one of the founders of The P&P95Forever Club, I had a right to be excited. Then my mamma said I was talking too loud. (We were in the library, you know. :P)
Ha. That's your random story for the day. I shall not trouble you with my nonsensicalness any longer, and shall make my departure. Good day to you.

Oh, HOW delightful! I shall dust my dvds off (not that I ever let any dust gather on them, just an expression, you know) and set to!
I own the Remastered Edition. The colors are a lot nicer than the original version, but I found that the sound had a lower tone to it (almost like a piece of music changing key). I prefer the picture quality of the Remastered Edition, but the sound quality of the original. I think on the DVD, the episodes were split up differently between the disks.
P&P watch-along party! Happy thought indeed!!
I think I shall be able to participate. And a live chat sounds terrific! I'll be eating supper for part of that time but I'll rush straight away from the table to the computer! :)
And I must agree with you. In fact, I maintain that all Austen fans have a right to be excited every single time we watch one of the movies or read one of the books, no matter how many times we may have done it before. How is that for a mission statement? :)
May I suggest also turning off the recaptcha 'prove you are not a robot' during the live chat? It would speed up posting.
Caroline,
I'm so glad you'll be joining us! :)
Miss Elizabeth,
How interesting! I'll have to see how I think it sounds... so far I've only put in the second disc to watch the special features. The new menu was so fun! ;) And yes, you're right; episodes 1-4 are on the first disc and 5 and 6 on the second.
Miss Muffin,
Indeed; I shall probably be eating some of the time too. ;) I'll try to work around it, though, if at all possible. Or rush to the computer like you. :)
Yes, you're quite right. And anyway, I think Jane Austen is a worthwhile thing to be excited about. ;P
Oh, good idea, indeed. I don't know how many times I'll have to prove I'm not a robot before I finally convince Blogger of it. ;) (It's really too bad that it doesn't keep track of which accounts have done it so many times and then it can only set in for the annoying comments you get when you don't have that set up...) Anyway, yes, I think we shall turn that off. Thanks!
Well, I'm glad I could be of such an inspiration to you! :)
I'm not certain if I'll be able to watch the whole P&P, or participate in the live chat (drat those time zones!), but I will try! :)
I am going to join you all. I hope. Excited about the idea.

Yes, I snagged that of the side of this blog. Just seemed very appropriate. *begins to try and silence crazy fan-girl of self*
Unfortunately, this weekend has not turned out as I planned, and I have only had time to watch one episode. I also, very sadly, will not be able to join in the discussion this evening as I must run some errands and drop a brother off at a basketball game (Errrrr...I would MUCH rather fangirl over P+P). What a pity! I was very much looking forward to the lovely chat we were going to have. I hope the rest of you have delightful time. =]
