• Jennifer Ehle, who plays the dark-haired Elizabeth Bennet, is actually blonde.

• During Mr. Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth, take a good look at the clock on the Hunsford mantelpiece. It never moves past 6:17!

• Colin Firth initially declined the part of Mr. Darcy.

• Crispin Bonham-Carter (Mr. Bingley) originally auditioned for the part of Mr. Wickham.

• Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy) and Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Bennet) were a couple in real life during filming, but the relationship ended before the miniseries was broadcast on TV.  

• Lucy Briers (Mary Bennet) and Emilia Fox (Georgiana Darcy) are both pianists and performed their own pieces in the miniseries.

• Julia Sawalha (Lydia Bennet) is actually a year older than Jennfier Ehle (Elizabeth) in real life.

• The scene in which Mr. Darcy dives into the Pemberley lake (a scene, we might add, which does not appear in the novel) was filmed partly in a tank and partly on a mattress.  Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy) was filmed flopping onto a foam mattress and then swimming through a tank full of water.  The shots were then spliced together to create the illusion of Mr. Darcy diving into a lake.

• Joanna David (Mrs. Gardiner) is the mother of Emilia Fox (Georgiana Darcy).  Emilia Fox is also the daughter of Joanna David.  La, what a coincidence...

• Anthony Calf (Colonel Fitzwilliam) is Susannah Harker's (Jane Bennet's) brother-in-law.
